Case Studies: Where SWP waterproofing products have been applied
Some of the projects where the SWP range has been chosen and used include:
Olympic Village and pools in Sydney and Barcelona

The Sydney Olympic Village, developed for the 2000 Summer Olympics, was a landmark project in sustainable urban design. Located in Newington, the village was designed to house over 15,000 athletes and officials, incorporating innovative environmental initiatives. Post-Games, the area transitioned into a residential suburb, showcasing sustainable living principles.

The Barcelona Olympic Village, known as La Vila Olímpica del Poblenou, was a cornerstone of the city’s transformation for the 1992 Summer Olympics. Situated in the Sant Martí district, this area was developed to house approximately 15,000 athletes and officials during the Games. Post-Olympics, the village was seamlessly integrated into the city’s urban fabric, becoming a vibrant residential neighbourhood.
Parliament swimming pool

Parliament House in Canberra features a 25-metre indoor swimming pool located within its Health and Recreation Centre. This facility is available to members of parliament, staff, and authorised personnel, providing a space for fitness and relaxation amidst the demands of parliamentary duties. The pool complements other amenities in the centre, such as a gym and wellness services, supporting the health and well-being of those working within the building.
URBNSURF Wave Pools in Melbourne and Sydney

URBNSURF operates two premier surf parks, one in Melbourne and one in Sydney, utilising Wavegarden Cove technology to deliver consistent, high-quality waves suitable for surfers of all skill levels.
Baulderstone-Clough Graham Farmer Northbridge Tunnel Project

The Graham Farmer Freeway and Northbridge Tunnel project in Perth, Western Australia, was a significant infrastructure development aimed at alleviating inner-city traffic congestion.
Constructed between 1996 and 2000, the project featured a 1.6-kilometre tunnel beneath Northbridge, designed to provide an east–west bypass of the city’s central business district.
The construction was undertaken by a joint venture between Clough and Baulderstone Hornibrook, and the project was completed three months ahead of schedule and within its $313 million budget.

National Gallery of Australia

We have also worked closely with subcontractors to the National Gallery of Australia (NGA) to address high priority waterproofing issues. Given the importance of the structures and heritage listed site, these projects were approached with great care respecting the integrity of the structures and their broader social value.
Shine Dome

The Shine Dome, located in Canberra, serves as the headquarters of the Australian Academy of Science and is a testament to mid-20th-century architectural innovation. Designed by Sir Roy Grounds and completed in 1959, this iconic structure features a 710-tonne reinforced concrete dome supported by 16 slender arches, creating the illusion of a floating saucer above its surrounding moat.
The building’s moat, integral to its structural design, required specialised waterproofing solutions.
Scientific Waterproofing Products (SWP) addressed the Shine Dome’s waterproofing issue by applying DRIZORO MAXSEAL FLEX-TRAFFIC (tinted blue), a trafficable/abrasion resistant flexible, cement-based coating suitable for concrete and masonry surfaces
